Yes, I am having a new love affair. Please do not tell my sewing machine. She could well be jealous.
My new love is paper punching. There is a fantastic Paper Craft shop here in Hong Kong (thank you to Emily for telling me about this shop!) I have been able to slowly build up my collection of different punches. My newest one is this large Monarch Butterfly punch (it is 4.5cm across the widest -top- part of the wing span)
Last week, I sewed some together to make 3D butterfly garlands for the birthday party.
Sewing two together means you get this 3D effect. I am loving this look.
What are you making this week? There's a lot of creating going on over here at My Creative Spaces, do go and have a look, it is so inspiring.
I love these! So simple yet really effective.ReplyDelete
Oh wow how gorgeous! How can I get my hands on a butterfly punch??ReplyDelete
Check out ebay, they often have these Martha Stewart punches, or try a scrap-booking shop/website. I am so lucky this shop here in Hong Kong has a great selection, but there are always more I would like. I have a friend here who buys them on the internet from all over the world. Happy punching!
Beautiful! I've never seen a punch so intricate.ReplyDelete
How awesome... I love this idea!ReplyDelete
I have that punch - it's the Martha Stewart one, isn't it? It's my favourite. I love the idea of sewing them onto cards! So simple yet extremely effective! I've been gluing mine on but they fall off sometimes. Sewing is so much better! I love your paper/card. Very pretty butterflies.ReplyDelete
Yes, it is the Martha Stewart double Monarch butterfly punch. Have fun sewing them on next time, at first it feels weird, but now I love it!
These are so cute! Lots of potential prettying to be had! I'm working on my baby daughter's quilt and also a doll set for my eldest daughter - inspired by a book she loves :)ReplyDelete
Oh I am loving these Cat, absolutely gorgeous! Another clever creation from your wonderful world. I am now tempted to go out and buy some paper punches... looks like a lot of fun! xoReplyDelete
They are very eye catching...and great way to keep your sewing machine happy as well. xxReplyDelete
Always something more to see and do, your butterfly s are lovely especially the 3 d effect.ReplyDelete
You'll become seriously addicted to paper crafting;) I love the elegant simplicity of these cards I think I might have to used your idea next time I'm card making:) xReplyDelete

Wow. The butterflies are great. So effective. I've never seen a punch like that, but might just have to look for one. Would it punch felt too? CxReplyDelete
Hi Kat!! It been ages! I've been going through all your beautiful sewing and crafty projects. And oh your girls are just soooo gorgeous! I hope everything is going well in Hong Kong for your family (it certainly looks like you are having a blast!)ReplyDelete
I'll try to check back more often and see what you get up to. Oh and I wanted to tell you that my youngest son takes his paddington bear to bed with him every night still :) I hope it gives you a nice warm feeling knowing something you made is much loved! xxx
I live in Hong Kong and am looking for a "merchandise tag" paper punch. Would you please share the name of the shop where you get yours? Thanks!
