7 things

Thank you to Melinda from Here we go Loopy Lou for giving me this Sunshine award. If you haven't seen her beautiful cards, you must - they are divine.

I now need to tell you 7 things you may not know about me.......
  1. I can't stand fungus, AKA mushrooms. I can not even be in the same room if someone is cooking them, they make me gag. I don't know why I dislike them so much, I used to eat mushroom soup as a child. And now I am developing a love of toadstools on fabric.....
  2. Chris and I have been in an armed robbery. Not the ones holding the gun, but having one pointed at us. It was when we were living in London, the last week before Chris and I were leaving to move to Australia. We were at our local post office, for some forgotten reason, waiting in line to be served when a few masked men, one holding a gun, came in. We were ushered to the back of the post office, while they "asked" the post office staff to fill up some bags with money. Funny things go through your head at a time like this - I was worried they would take Chris's passport off us. His English passport, with a very new visa stamp in it - a visa stamp allowing him to move to Australia with me.
  3. I studied at University to be a Medical Photographer (before digital photography) At the time I graduated, there were no jobs in Melbourne, and I did not want to move interstate so I worked at the Kodak manufacturing plant as a Quality Control technician, and (so far) this has been the best job I have ever had (apart from being a mummy )
  4. I have a medical condition called pernicious anemia. For some unknown reason, my body does not absorb vitamin B12 from food. Luckily, all I need to do is have B12 injections 3-4 times a year.
  5. I talk in my sleep. It runs in the family. Both of my brothers talk in their sleep (occasionally, they yell in their sleep - eek) I have also passed this on to Abbey. Whoops.
  6. My mum is a yoga teacher (if you live near Eltham, Melbourne, and need a great yoga teacher, contact me and I'll pass on her details)
  7. I LOVE sudoku.

I now need to pass this onto some other peeps, which is difficult, as so many of my blogging friends have already done this.
Hope you have had a lovely weekend.

One pink banana: My Creative Space

I have been making felt fruit and vegetables. I am finding it lots of fun. Of course, Abbey wanted her own take on the banana, and had to have a pink one. Looks rather odd to me!

This is my first time playing along with Kirsty for My Creative Space (after a long time watching)

Cheers, Cat

At my house...

We have almost caught up on the washing, after returning from a trip to Brisbane to visit my brother and sister-in-law. It was a lovely time away, and so nice to feel warm again after all the cold weather in Melbourne recently.

Sand was eaten.

Ice creams were eaten.

Some arts and crafts were created by Abbey and Uncle Steve (he had been collecting bits and bobs for weeks, I think he enjoyed it as much as Abbey did)

Auntie Stepfie's car was lovingly decorated with "flowers" by Abbey and Uncle Steve.

We went to the local library for bed time stories. This library had the best collection of Mr Men and Little Miss books I have ever seen (all together)

Towers were made with Uncle Steve.

And Auntie Stepfie made the girls some cute fish sandwiches for the journey home.

Thank you for having us, and letting us mess up your house a lot.

Of caterpillars and mice

Two new bib and burp cloth sets have been added to my shop today. Very cute and colourful Hungry Caterpillar fabric (from the Eric Carle book) The colours on this fabric are so bright and cheerful, it felt like sewing with a little ray of sunshine.

Also some sweet little flowers from the Maisy Mouse books, by Lucy Cousins.

I am also planning a giveaway to celebrate (belatedly) the opening of my madeit shop, more details about this soon.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

New in the shop

Today I have added a new product to my shop, these super soft Cloth Nappy Wipes.

I have been making cloth nappy wipes like these for 3 years now. I use them instead of disposable wipes at nappy change time, with a spray bottle of water. Then I just wash them with my cloth nappies. They dry very quickly. Friends have also used them, and love them too. I blogged about them last year, over here.

They are also a super soft alternative to tissues if your little ones (or big ones!) have a runny nose. I always have a stash in my nappy bag.

I'll be adding some new bib and burp cloth sets over the weekend, here is a sneak peek.....
